Multimodality and Digital Narrative in Teaching a Foreign Language

چکیده

The article focuses on the authors’ pedagogical experience of exploiting digital narratives in a foreign language education at modern university (on basis National Technical University Ukraine “KPI” named after Igor Sikorsky). study aims to consider multimodality terms didactics. It was designed by constructivism theory and narratology teaching language. research exploited set theoretical methods: analyzing, summarizing, interpreting scholarly sources issue under scrutiny; generalization conceptualization experience. Applying those methods coherence logic enabled effective interpretation concepts “narrative” “digital narrative” their interrelations. In study, narrative is viewed as sociocultural tool that provides students with deeper self-understanding, complements communicative system acquisition metacognition values life meaning. form expression, empowered determined technologies incorporates multimodal communication cognitive unity. authors have stated multimodality, grounded information technologies, introducing entirely new semiotic resources into environment learning. also generating innovative ways forms oral written interaction. Multimodal learning activities illustrating specifics creating learners English language, are highlighted. significance lies fact ongoing COVID-19 pandemic unquestionably rather fertile condition for active implementing education, developing different this area
